Desacetylcefotaxime is an active metabolite of the cephalosporin antibiotic cefotaxime .¹It is active against 60 clinical isolates derived from patients with meningitis, includingH. influenzae,S. pneumoniae,S. agalactiae, andN. meningitidis(MIC₉₀s = 0.008-0.12 µg/ml).
