Background:
Imidocarb is an antiprotozoal agent. It is active against the protozoan parasite B. bovis (IC50 = 0.87 µg/ml). Imidocarb (1.2 mg/kg) eliminates parasites in blood in a splenectomized lamb model of B. bovis infection and increases survival when administered at a dose of 2.4 mg/kg prior to infection. Formulations containing imidocarb have been used in the veterinary treatment of babesiosis and other protozoal infections.
