Naproxen etemesil, formerly known as LT-NS-001; MX-1094; LTNS-001, is a cyclooxygenase (COX) inhibitor potentially for the treatment of osteoarthritis. Naproxen etemesil is a lipophilic, non-acidic, inactive prodrug of naproxen that is hydrolysed to pharmacologically active naproxen once absorbed. Naproxen etemesil was associated with significantly lower gastroduodenal mucosal injury compared with naproxen after 7 days of exposure.
