Esomeprazole potassium, the potassium salt of esomeprazole and the S-isomer of omeprazole, is a potent proton pump inhibitor (PPI) with the potential for the treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease-GERD. It inhibits the proton pump enzyme-H+/K+-ATPase with an IC50 of 0.076 mg/kg.
