7-epi-Taxol, the epimer of taxol (paclitaxel), is a major and active metabolite of taxol isolated from Taxus brevifolia with comparable anticancr/antitubulin activity to that of paclitaxek/taxol. Like paclitaxel, 7-epi-Taxol is active against cell prolifertion, and can promote microtubule stablization and inhibit microtubule depolymerization. As such, its presence does not affect the overall biological activity of taxol.
