Emodic acid (NSC624610) is an anthraquinone compound isolated fromA. microcarpus, which can inhibit the proliferation ofcancercells by inhibiting the activity ofNF-κB. Emodic acid can also inhibit the phosphorylation ofp38,ERKandJNK, the secretion of tumor-promoting cytokines IL-1β andIL-6, and the expression ofVEGFandMMP, thereby inhibiting the invasion and migration potential ofcancercells^[1].
