Nandrolone decanoate (19-Nortestosterone decanoate), an anabolic androgenic steroid (AAS), induces an aggressive phenotype by mechanisms involving glutamate-induced N-methyl-d-aspartate receptor (NMDAr) hyperexcitability^[1]. Nandrolone decanoate has beneficial effects on weight, lean body mass and quality of life in selected patients who have mild to moderateHIVwasting^[2].

Long-term Nandrolone decanoate exposure (15 mg/kg) induces an exacerbated aggressive behavior in CF1 male mice^[1].

Animal Model:	Two-month old CF1 male mice (total n=208) weighting 32-38 g
Dosage:	15 mg/kg/day in a volume of 1 mL/kg
Administration:	Single daily subcutaneous injections for 4 days (short-term exposure), 11 days (mid-term exposure) and 19 days (long-term exposure)
Result:	Did not cause significant decrease in the latency to first attack in short-, and mid-term exposures compared to their respective vehicle (CO) groups. In contrast, long-term administration significantly decreased the latency to first attack, and increased the total number of attacks against an intruder compared to the CO group.
