性质描述: 白色结晶。熔点96-97℃。易溶于醇和醚，微溶于沸水，几乎不溶于冷水。
生产方法: 由对羟基苯甲酸与正丙醇酯化而得。将对羟基苯甲酸和丙醇混合，加热使溶解，慢慢加入硫酸，继续加热回流8h后冷却，倒入4%碳酸钠溶液中析出结晶，过滤，水洗至中性即为粗品，再经乙醇重结晶而得成品。制备中，也可采用阳离子交换树脂代替硫酸催化剂。
用途: 用作食品、化妆品、药物等的防腐杀菌剂。

Its derivative, sodium propyl p-hydroxybenzoate is used as an anti-fungal preservation agent.
