Water and sewage purification, dyeing and printing fabrics, manufacturing of pigments, paper, artificial gems, cements, in electrolytic copper platingAluminum ammonium sulfate dodecahydrate acts as a crystalline double sulfate. It is used in water purification, in vegetable glues, in porcelain cements, in deodorant, in tanning and in fireproofing textiles. It serves as an ingredient in animal repellant sprays. Further, it is used in the preparation of Alum (Al(OH)₃) gel. In addition, it is used in cosmetic formulation, fertilizers, food preservation and in the heating system.

Becomes anhydrous at about 250Â°, decomposes above 280Â°Incompatible with strong bases, aluminum, steel, zinc and copper.

Ammonium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate, commonly called as ammonium alum, is widely used in the water purification, cosmetic formulation, fertilizers and food preservation. Its thermal decomposition has been studied. It has high latent heat of 251kJkg^-1 with a potential use in the heating system. Its utility as a flame-retardant for cotton fabric has been studied.

应用

Ammonium aluminum sulfate dodecahydrate may be used in the preparation of alum (Al(OH)₃) gel and monodispersed yttrium aluminum garnet (YAG) powder.
