Biological stain for distinguishing coli and aerogene bacteriaBasic Fuchsin is useful for Ziehl-Neelson staining to detect acid-fast bacilli. It is also used to stain tubercle bacillus and bacterial flagella. It plays an important role for tissue sections to visualize elastic fibers, cardiac and skeletal muscle tissue. It also acts as bacterial and histological stains. Further, it is used to stain cellular elements, certain tissues, bacteria and also acts as a local anti-infective.

一般描述

Basic fuchsin, a triphenylmethane dye is commonly a mixture of pararosaniline (C.I. 42500), rosaniline (C.I. 42510), magenta II (no CI number) and new fuchsine (CI 42520). Basic fuchsin is widely used in tissue-specific staining of biological and coloring several materials including orlon, cotton, leather, paper etc. It is also used to stain collagen, muscle and mitochondria.

应用

Basic Fuchsin has been used in several biological tests including:

Acid-fast staining with carbol-fuchsine
Periodic Acid-Schiff method
Feulgen technique for DNA staining
ENDO culture medium for distinguishing between the bacteria Escherichia coli and Aerobacter aerogenes
Leifson′s method for bacterial flagella staining.
