性质描述: 无色至浅黄色油状液体。沸点212℃(1.6kPa),175℃(0.33千帕),133℃(0.133千帕),相对密度0.8865(20/4℃),折射率1.4675。不溶于水,溶于乙醇、乙醚,与N,N-二甲基甲酰胺、脂肪族溶剂和油类等混溶。在空气中氧化稳定性比亚滑酸强。
生产方法: 由亚油酸与乙醇在硫酸存在下酯化而得。将亚油酸(碘价168以上)、无水乙醇、浓硫酸投入反应器中,搅拌,加热回流4小时。蒸馏回收乙醇到无乙醇馏出为止。放冷,水洗至水层对风果红试纸不显酸性后,减压蒸馏除去水分,再收集195℃(0.93千帕)馏分即为成品。亚油酸可由豆油或葵花籽油提取,大豆油中亚油酸邻量43-56%。大豆油在精炼过程中约产生5-10%的油脚和皂脚,一般用下脚料来提取亚油酸比较经济,每吨亚油酸消耗大豆油皂脚5-5.9吨。
用途: 亚油酸乙酯和亚油酸一样都有降低胆固醇和血脂的作用,可预防或减轻脉粥样硬化症。亚油酸乙酯的副反应比亚油酸轻得多。也可作为脉通的原料。

在检测酒精滥用时,亚油酸乙酯可用作定量脂肪酸乙酯(FAEE)的参考物质。可以使用亚油酸乙酯作为乙酰胆碱酯酶(AChE)抑制剂进行研究。
从三角紫叶酢浆草中分离的亚油酸乙酯能够在小鼠B16黑素瘤细胞中抑制毛喉素诱导的黑色素生成和酪氨酸酶活性。这种抗黑色素生成作用是通过抑制cAMP产生来介导的。
