性质描述: 白色细结晶性粉末。熔点113.5℃。易溶于水、醇、极难溶于醚，久贮变淡灰黄色，易潮解。
生产方法: 将225g草酰琥珀酸三乙酯与600ml浓盐酸混合，放置过液。蒸馏浓缩至140℃，剩余物冷却结晶，得α-酮基戊二酸110-112g，收率92-93%。
用途: 测定氨基转换酶及脱氢酶的底物，测定肝功能的配套试剂，也用作有机合成中间体。
