Potassium phosphate monohydrate acts as a reagent and buffer used in molecular biology, biochemistry, and chromatography. It is utilized to study the effects of freezing and thawing of proteins sensitive to conformational changes. It is also used in the extraction of keratohyalin protein from bovine tissue. Further, it is used as a food additive, emulsifier, foaming agent and fertilizer.
