It may be used as a catalyst for one pot preparation of symmetrical 1,5-diketones. Sol gel synthesis of ternary compound, Ba₃ Li ₂Ti₈ O₂₀ can be carried out by precursor reactants, barium isopropoxide, titanium isopropoxide and lithium acetate.
