Xylazine HCl是一种α2肾上腺素能受体激动剂，用作镇定剂和肌肉松弛剂。

体内研究
在比格犬中，Xylazine剂量依赖性地抑制去甲肾上腺素的释放和脂肪分解。Xylazine也趋于剂量依赖性降低肾上腺素水平。[1] 在马中，Xylazine盐酸剂量和时间依赖性降低最低肺泡浓度（MAC）Xylazine盐酸剂量和时间依赖性增加血糖浓度。[2] 在站立母马中，Xylazine诱导可变双边尾椎镇痛从尾骨延伸到S3，以最少的镇静，共济失调，和心呼吸抑制。Xylazine显著降低心脏和呼吸率，收缩压，舒张压，平均动脉血压，PCV，血红蛋白浓度，动脉血氧含量和氧输送。[3] 在马中，Xylazine显著降低心脏率，增加房室传导阻滞的发生率，并减少心输出量和心脏指数下降。[4]  在奶牛中，Xylazine诱导镇静和选择性（S3至Co）的镇痛为至少2小时。Xylazine显著降低心脏速率，呼吸速率，瘤胃收缩率，动脉血压，氧分压，PCV和总固体浓度，并显著增加了奶牛的PaCO2，碱过量和碳酸氢盐的浓度。[5] 在没有麻醉的切除大脑的大鼠中，Xylazine抑制N3场（-75％）并彻底抑制爬纤维领域（-100％）。在没有麻醉的切除大脑的大鼠中，Xylazine－ketamine抑制N3场（-75％）并彻底抑制爬纤维领域（-90％）。[6]
