性质描述: D-对羟基苯甘氨酸为白色片状结晶或白色结晶粉末，熔点204℃（分解），微溶于乙醇和水，易溶于酸或碱溶液生成盐。
生产方法: 大茴香醛经环合、水解制成DL-对羟基苯甘氨酸，再用甲醇酯化，用酒石酸拆分，得到D（-）-对羟基苯甘氨酸。国内大部分D-对羟基苯甘氨酸的生产企业目前基本都采用乙醛酸工艺生产。
用途: 与氢氧化钾、氢氧化钠反应可得邓钾盐和邓钠盐，后者是制备半合成青霉素羟氨苄青霉素（即阿莫西林）和头孢类抗生素头孢羟氨苄（商品名欧意）、头孢哌酮等的重要侧链化合物。还可生产羟氨苄唑头孢、头孢罗齐、头孢曲嗪等，因其用途广且合成的医药产品既可注射又可口服，临床疗效优于氨苄西林。
