一般描述

Glycine is synthesized from choline, threonine and serine. It serves as a precursor for porphyrins, purines, glutathione and creatine.

应用

Glycine sodium salt hydrate has been used as a component of buffer for homogenization of whole muscle for protein extraction and in electrophoresis buffer. It has also been used as a neurotransmitter in immunohistochemical staining of Zebrafish spinal cord sections.
Glycine sodium salt hydrate has been used for homogenization of muscle tissue and as a component of buffer for electrophoresis, for analysis of whole muscle proteins obtained from five ariid catfish species: Ariopsis felis, Bagre marinus, Cathorops aguadulce, Cathorops fuerthii and Ariopsis guatemalensis.

生化/生理作用

Glycine is essential for the regulation immune function, metabolism, growth and development. It modulates intracellular Ca²⁺ levels and cytokines production. A reduction in glycine levels is observed in obesity, type 2 diabetes (T2DM), and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLDs). Glycine is degraded to serine by glycine serine hydroxymethyltransferase 1 in cytoplasm.
