性质描述: 为白色无臭晶体粉末，是一种既无氧化性又无还原性的稳定化合物。熔点126℃左右，但加热到100℃以上时，则慢慢分解，在110℃时就分解生成SO2，继续加热，则分解为尿素和亚硫酸。20℃时，在1L水中的溶解度为26.7g，其水溶液呈酸性，不溶于醚和苯。在碱的作用下，能分解为尿素和亚硫酸钠。
生产方法: 由硫脲与双氧水反应而得。在反应锅加入蒸馏水，搅拌，用冷冻盐水将锅内温度降至8-10℃时，开始加入硫脲并滴加双氧水，控制滴加速度，使反应温度保持在20℃以下。当pH值在3-5以后，可反复投料。反应将结束时，可加水使反应温度不再上升。当pH值在2-3，料温降至5℃左右时，可将氧化产物放至离心机甩干，再纺烘房干燥而得二氧化硫脲。1t产品消耗98%的硫脲1t，30%的双氧水3.4t。此外，本品以臭氧和硫脲为原料或以氰氨化钙、硫化铵和双氧水为原料也可制得。
用途: 二氧化硫脲作为还原剂在印染工业广泛用于羊毛漂白、还原染料与硫化染料的染色、分散染料染色用的还原洗净剂、拔染脱色剂。在有机合成中用来还原酮、醌、硝基、偶氮、氧化偶氮、氧化偶氮、次联氮基化合物以及有机硫化物等。二氧化硫脲还作为各种脱色剂，是照相胶化乳胶的敏化剂，分离稀有金属铑和铱的化学试剂，可提高聚乙烯的稳定性。在聚丙烯腈和聚合的蒸发过程中加入二氧化硫脲，能使聚丙烯腈的色泽得到改善，是合成纤维生产的重要配套产品。本品还广泛用于医药、香料等精细化工产品的生产等。
