性质描述: 白色粉末。熔点253℃。相对密度1.919。溶于水和甘油，微溶于乙醇。不溶于乙醚。甲酸钠在高温下分解为草酸钠和氢，最后成碳酸钠。有轻微的甲酸气味，有吸水性。
生产方法: 1.工业上由一氧化碳与氢氧化钠在150-170℃、约2MPa下反应而得。实际上，甲酸钠的生产过程是草酸生产的一部分，用于吸收反应的氢氧化钠溶液的浓度为25%-30%。甲酸钠也可由甲酸与氧氧化钠或碳酸氢钠反应而制备。原料消耗定额：一氧化碳（＞28%）1630kg/t、烧碱（＞30%）2160kg/t。2.季戊四醇副产。
用途: 是生产甲酸和草酸的中间体，也用于生产二甲基甲酰胺等。也用于医药、印染工业。还是重金属的沉淀剂。
