性质描述: 无色液体。熔点18℃（17.5℃），沸点179℃（2kPa），144-146℃（0.4kPa），相对密度0.7891（20/4℃），折光率1.4448，闪点148℃。溶于热丙醇，不溶于水。
生产方法: 由十八醇脱水而得。将十八醇和乙酐（摩尔比为1：1.5）混合以后，从恒压漏斗逐滴加入一个装有石英砂的石英管中，温度为610±10℃，在柱中停留时间为2min。热解产物为近于等体积的两层液体，下层主要为乙酸和乙酐，弃去，上层液与1N氢氧化钾乙醇溶液在100℃回流1h，再倒入过量的温水中，取非水溶性物溶于正已烷，在0℃下冷却，未反应的十八醇沉淀出来，过滤分离，将滤液减压蒸馏，先在室温下馏出正已烷，升温蒸去前馏分，然后收集195℃（4.39kPa）馏分即为十八烯。
用途: 该品为气相色谱对比样品，在有机合成中用于生产表面活性剂、香料、芭物、染料和聚合物。

应用
1-Octadecene is an inexpensive solvent having high boiling point. Due to this property, it replaces the heat transfer fluids such as dowthem A or therminol 66 and used in the synthesis of high quality CdSe quantum dots (nano crystal made up of semiconductor materials). These quantum dots find application in transistors, diode lasers and solar cells. It is also used as a solvent for the synthesis of iron oxide nanospheres.
