性质描述: 带有光泽的无色液体，有水果的特殊香味。熔点24.5℃，沸点275℃（100kPa），165℃（2.0kPa），137℃（0.267kPa），相对密度0.4075（25/4℃），折射率1.4464，闪点148℃。微溶于水，溶于乙醇和乙醚。
生产方法: 由蓖麻油直接裂解或酯化裂解制得。1.蓖麻油直接裂解法将蓖麻油投入不锈钢反应锅内，直火加热，减压干馏，收集馏出液，再分馏可得十一烯酸，同时得到庚酸。2.蓖麻油酸甲酯法蓖麻油（蓖麻油酸甘油酯）与甲醇进行酯交换后，经高温裂解得十一烯酸甲酯，再经皂化、酸化精制后，得成品，并副产庚醛、甘油等产品。原料消耗定额：蓖麻油（药用）4700kg/t、甲醇（工业品）1410kg/t、硫酸（工业品）658kg/t、烧碱（95%）40kg/t、亚硫酸氢钠（95%）940kg/t。
用途: 十一烯酸是合成香料的重要原料，如香料γ-十一内酯（亦称桃醛）、聚环十五内酯、麝香酮、壬醛和壬醇等。也是一种抗霉菌药，用于治疗皮肤霉菌病（配制脚气灵等）。
