性质描述: 无色液体。沸点241℃,116℃(0.67kPa),103℃(6.7kPa),相对密度0.9220(20/4),折光率1.4478,闪点121℃。溶于6-7份乙醇中,在空气中易氧化,对酸、碱不太稳定,贮藏中有聚合倾向。
生产方法: 由香茅醛在双键上加水制得。香茅醛的水合反应在无机酸存在下进行,但香茅醛在酸性介质中不稳定,需用亚硫酸氢钠、胺类、低级脂肪酸酐等保护醛基,在水合反应结束后,再在反应试剂作用下使醛基恢复。将香茅醛同亚硫酸氢钠作用生成亚硫酸氢盐化合物,然后再进行水合,是保护香茅醛醛基的最常用方法。随后用干燥的碳酸钠的甲苯中分解亚硫酸氢盐化合物,析出羟基香茅醛。香茅醛是由柠檬醛或含有柠檬醛的精油和产物经催化氢化获得的,将香茅醛与亚硫酸氢钠溶液进行水合作用。然后加入碳酸钠中和剩余的盐酸,至物料中酸含量为0.5-1%时,用甲苯萃取有机杂质。分出甲苯萃取物后,在水合产物中添加甲苯,加入干燥的碳酸钠分解羟基香茅醛的亚硫酸氢盐化合物,这时析出的醛就被甲苯萃取,取甲苯溶液回收甲苯,剩余物通过真空蒸馏提纯,得到产品羟香茅醛。
用途: 该品稀释时具有类似菩提、铃兰和新鲜的青草香气,广泛用于铃兰、兰花、茉莉、紫丁香等香精中,在香水、香粉等化妆品香精中用量高达20%,是最有价值的香料之一。该品是我国GB2760-86规定允许使用的食用香料,主要用于配制柑桔、西瓜、樱桃等瓜果型香精。由于该品易氧化,可添加抗氧剂3,6-二叔丁基-4-甲基苯酚作稳定。羟基香茅醛在碱性中不稳定,故在肥皂香精中使用其缩醛,例如二甲缩醛等,有时将羟基香茅醛与苄醇、苯乙醇以及香茅醇以半缩醛形式存放和使用。羟基香茅醛还用来制取其他香料,如1-氨基-7-羟基-3,7-二甲基辛烷和邻羟基香茅叉氨基苯甲酸甲酯。曾用含0.5%该品饲料喂大鼠两年,未发现任何异现象。
