5-羟基-L-色氨酸(5-HTP)天然存在于加纳籽(Griffonia simplicifolia)中。

应用

5-羟基-L-色氨酸已用于：

  • 注射实验小鼠进行血清素检测
  • 作为5-羟色胺前体注入怀孕小鼠和新生大鼠，用于进行肺切片的中性红活体染色
  • 作为柠檬酸-乙酸缓冲液用标准品，用于高效液相色谱(HPLC)分析。

生化/生理作用

L-色氨酸的羟化反应在大脑的血清素合成过程中进行。该步骤调控血清素的生产，并生成5-羟基-l-色氨酸(5-HTP)代谢物。因此服用5-羟色氨酸(5-HTP)会提高血清素水平，导致抑郁、睡眠不足和剧烈头痛。
